DIY Galaxy Converse

As promised, here is the finished product of my sisters converse! I really want to keep them, they turned out much better than the earlier version as the shoe is canvas and gives off a nicer finish. Might have to invest in doing some of these for myself! After a lot of thought I decided on the white laces.

 Note: You might be able to tell that the rubber sole came out much cleaner, whiter and looking almost brand new! How I did this? Toothpaste and an old brush or scrubber. WIN

DIY Galaxy Shoes

DIY Galaxy Print Shoes

Materials:
Plain shoes/old shoes
Acrylic paint (assorted colours)
Paint brushes
Masking Tape
Water
Sponge
Toothpicks
Glitter
Glue
Scotchguard / water-proofer


Steps:
Gather materials

NOTE: tape the base of the shoe with masking tape if possible, you can use black paint at a later stage if the tape wont stick

Paint in sections, using a 'dab' action, or sponge to spread
Begin with base colour (blue) then add purple and white to finish
Be as messy as you want :)

Add stars using a thin paint brush or toothpick
Add smaller stars (dots) with toothpick, scattered around darker areas of the shoe
'Splatter' with watered down paint and a brush or by using a spray bottle
Add glitter with glue
Use a water-proof spray (scotchguard)

Done!

Also revamping my sisters old chucks with this same technique, will post photos when finished!

DIY Jewellery Frame

 

I absolutely adored this vintage style necklace hanger when I first saw it and immediately decided I wanted my own. Unfortunately I'm not quite handy with power tools, so I took this task to my Step Dad to help me out, Fortunately if you are like me you could still easily do this yourself.

What we did;
After establishing that we wanted the sticks on the back of the frame, the problem of not having any space between the wall and the frame came about; we solved this by adding a 3D 'frame' to the original.

You could also get this look by using a frame with a larger backing and using a glue gun to secure the sticks.

 

What you need:

A Frame (any Size)

Sticks (I used bamboo)

Glue Gun or Plastic Clamps

Picture Hooks

Paint (to match)
Sponge

Backing Board (Optional)

Shoe Revamp - Glitter Chucks

First up, I thought I would show you where I have been...

I finally finished my huge assessment! Wooooo!

Right down to business, I am on a bit of a glitter obsession... and I used to love Converse. But these were a bit worse for wear and as they were brown it was a bit of an odd colour to match. I decided to revamp these after I saw a girl wearing glitter covered runners! My original plan was to use fine glitter all over the shoe, but after a coat of paint I decided that this look would be more everyday appropriate. The best bit about this shoe choice is that they are canvas, therefore the perfect option for paints. Check it out, DIY Glitter Converse!

What you need;

Masking tape

Paint Brushes (Medium and small)

Black Acrylic paint

Gliter Paint

Fine Glitter/Glue (Optional)
